Coastal Communities Fund – Round 5 is now open for applications in England.
The aim of the fund from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government is to support the economic development of coastal communities, through regeneration and economic growth whilst directly or indirectly safeguarding and creating sustainable jobs.
The funds definition of Coastal Community is “any coastal settlement within a local authority area whose boundaries include UK foreshore, including local authorities whose boundaries only include estuarine foreshore.”
£40 million of funding is available across England between April 2019 and the end of March 2021. Grants of £50,000+ are available for up to two years. The funding must be spent by 31st March 2021.
Applications are welcome from strong cross-sector partnerships that work together for the benefit of the community. They are more likely to fund projects that demonstrate a strong link to local strategies and plans, and where they are complementary rather than duplicating existing services.
Round 5 has two separate funding rounds:
- ‘Fast Track’ for revenue projects only, with no more than £10,000 of essential capital equipment. Some funding will be available during the 2018/19 financial year. The Closing date for stage 1 expression of interest is 2nd April 2018. Successful applicants at stage 1 will be invited to make a full application.
- Main Funding round – Funding is available from 1st April 2019. The stage 1 expression of interest closing date is 30th April 2018. Successful applicants at stage 1 will be invited to make a full application.
